A toy story- Make your kids S. T .E (A). M ready
“Year 2015-2016” saw evolution in toy industry and MADE room for S. T. E (A).M toys for the next generation innovators, which counts on the motto ‘Build Play Learn’. Toy industry association named ‘Smart Play’ i.e. educational toys as one of the top trends this year, at toy fair 2016 in New York. With the increase in disposable income and the one third of population under 14 years, the Indian toy industry is expected to grow at CAGR 20% and be valued at INR248.83 billion by year 2020 STEM products are relatively small as science/educational toys only made up 3% of global value sales of traditional toys and games in 2013, whereas on a regional level, Asia Pacific leads overall sales of scientific/educational toys with value sales of US$1.0 billion in 2013 and looks exceptionally rosy or the category with a CAGR of 4% in constant value terms expected over 2013-2018 Another trend that carved its way to toy industry is Augmented Reality applications to give the kids, augmented reality experiences on their screens, which is a variation of Virtual Environments. And, Tech based toys like robots which would teach kids important concepts, including coding, engineering, problem solving and building etc. Since it’s a fresh concept in India, My job demanded me to increase the reach of the brand which in turn made me to explore our potential markets for tie-ups (B2B/B2C sales and promotional initiatives). In the course of 3months, I collaborated the brand with almost 15+ Activity centres/Play Schools/Science centres across India and currently dealing with international expansion. I further designed and executed a customer (website and retail) feedback and customer loyalty program and workshops for various schools in India.
